Sherlock Holmes - New Twist or Same Old Thing?

I'm sure that you've heard of Sherlock Holmes, but have you seen the latest movie?

We live in a time of remakes and although it seems that, on average, there isn't much new creativity stirring in terms of new stories and ideas people do seem to be able to add new twists and takes on old stories to bring them up to date and make them easier to "consume".

I'm quite a fan of Guy Ritchie's other work so I had to see for myself what the buzz was all about for this movie.

Having seen a handful of different takes on the Sherlock Holmes story, I can definitely say that this is one of the best versions of Sherlock Holmes that I've ever seen!

I really like how he's shown as a fighter, an inventor, a scientist, somewhat of a jerk, a man with poor taste in women but great with disguises and is actually quite witty.

I love how he uses his intelligence and observations to be a better fighter and plan out all of his attack moves.

Oddly enough, there does seem to be a sort of a "bromance" between Sherlock and Dr. Watson. You'll notice this with how Sherlock is so against Dr. Watson getting married.

Of course there's mystery involved, that's doused with a little black magic and a hint of ginger.

I think that everyone was brilliantly cast in their roles for this movie and I would love to see this type of Sherlock Holmes story continue past just one film.

After watching this, at least for the rest of the day, you may find yourself taking more time to observe your surroundings to see what you can draw from them.
