Instant "Piggy Back" Traffic

Wouldn’t it be great to be able to filter loads of traffic from well-known sites who are underutilizing a very common webpage on their site? I’m about to show you a method that most search engine marketers never even think of using. There are a few places you can do this but the page I’m going to talk about is often times left as a blank default message.

How many times have you signed up for someone else’s newsletter only to be redirected to a page that says something like, “Thank you for signing up!”? This is a page thatevery single person, that signs up to their newsletter, sees.

Why’s that such a big deal?

If a visitor is looking at this page, then they just proved that they’re willing to take action! They’re not just browsing around; they’re interested in a specific topic and they’re taking action to get more information on it.

But how are you going to get someone to let you put an ad there?

First you want to browse sites that relate directly to your product but don’t compete with your product. Then you’ll have to sign up to their newsletter and see if they have a blank “thank you for signing up” page or not. If they do, then you’re set!

Then you’ll want to email them and say that you just signed up to their newsletter and you noticed that their thank you page just simply said thanks and told you to check your email. Then tell them that you have a way to guarantee that they’ll make even more money from every single one of their subscribers without doing anything. Tell them all they have to do is set something up on their newsletter thank you page once and it’ll only take about 5 minutes.

What you’re going to be doing is giving them html code they can paste on that page so that they can put an ad with their affiliate link for your product. Show them that your product really compliments theirs and tell them how much commission they’ll get off each sale and they’ll be sure to take you up on this offer.

Then when people sign up, they see your ad and click it. If they buy your product then both of you get paid; it’s a win-win situation! It might take a little time for you to find a handful of these blank, newsletter thank you pages in your niche but once you do you’ll have targeted traffic instantly rushing toward your site. But there is another method for getting instant traffic where people gladly advertise your site for FREE!

If you want a massive amount of people to send traffic your way without you even asking them to then you might want to create a press release.

There are sites like PRWeb where you can post a press release about your site for a small fee and then it’ll be sent to news sites all across the internet. I’ve posted a few myself and you’d be surprised at the number of people who will take your story, post it on their site and get YOU traffic!

All you need to do is talk about something new in your business and tie it into a current event like the economy, TV shows or movies. When you tie it into these current events you’ll have a better chance of catching someone’s eye. But you don’t want to be too “sales-y” in your press release; it’s not a sales letter it’s news. So you don’t want to use the word “you” at all in your press release.

Then you just wrap up your press release with a little background information on your business and give them a “call to action” by telling them to check out your site for more information.

Press releases are key when it comes to getting a rush of traffic, especially if you just opened up your business. There’s another method for getting traffic that I’m sure you’ve probably already taken part in without even realizing it.

Chances are if you’ve been on the internet for any amount of time then you’ve probably joined some type of social networking site. These sites are traffic goldmines! The reason why these sites work so well for getting you traffic is because there’s a sort of snowball effect for good content.

Let’s say you post your link on Facebook… Your friend thinks it’s cool and gives it a “thumbs up” and leaves a comment on it. Well guess what? ALL of their friends are now going to see in their news feed that your friend just said something about your link. Now you have even more eyes on your link and these are people that are probably not even on your list! The more people that thumbs up, share or comment on your link the more attention will be drawn to your link.

Let’s say you post your link on Digg… Someone on the site thinks it’s cool and “digs” it and leaves a comment on it. Same thing… Now it’s a little more popular on Digg. The more people that “digg” it and comment on your link the more traffic you’ll see and you may even experience the “digg effect”. This phenomenon of mass amounts of traffic being sent from Digg has actually crashed a lot of servers. That’s not really something you should aim for but you can see the potential for traffic if it’s crashing servers!

Let’s say you make a creative video, post it on YouTube and put your link in the description… Someone on the site thinks it’s cool, thumbs it up, leaves a comment and posts it on their website. The same thing can happen here but there’s a bigger chance that your video will go viral if it’s interesting or funny enough. People LOVE sharing videos with their friends! The more “social” you are online the bigger the chance of you getting waves of traffic crashing down on your site. You can see why getting traffic comes easy for some people.

These are the same methods search engine marketers have been using for years to help boost their Page Rank and dominate their market. When you piggy back your traffic, post newsworthy content and let it snowball you can expect a nonstop flow of traffic!
