Why is this a holiday?

Are you kidding me? Do you know how much women (and a lot of men) LOVE chocolate? And can you imagine telling them that they don't get to celebrate their guilty pleasure? I mean, there already was a Chocolate Day this year, so they had to add in a National day too to satisfy their chocolate hunger! But it's really up to you... would you rather a yearly slap to the face or are you going to let people celebrate yet another holiday dedicated to chocolate?

As a lot of you know, chocolate comes from the seeds of a cocao tree, but these seeds are pretty dang bitter. How do you fix that? You let the seeds ferment, then you dry them, clean them, roast them, take off the shell and then grind that into chocolate in its roughest form. But of course most people aren't going to consume it in that form.

If you want unsweetened chocolate then you're going to add in some cocoa butter. If you want it sweetened then you add in some sugar, of course. And if you want milk chocolate then you add in milk powder or condensed milk. But of course there is still dark and white chocolate. Dark chocolate is just that raw form of chocolate mixed with some fat and sugar. But then there's white chocolate which doesn't include any of those cocoa solids, it's just cocoa butter, sugar and milk solids. But hey, I'll still consider it a chocolate because it does have cocoa butter!

So, how can you celebrate today?

Eat some freaking chocolate! Go on a chocolate hunt in your house and locate everything that is flavored with chocolate. Trust me; almost all houses have some kind of chocolate inside them. In fact, off the top of my head, I can name quite a large amount of chocolate treats that are in my house. We've got chocolate drink mix (chocolate milk and hot cocoa), candy bars, chocolate pudding, brownies, chocolate cupcakes and chocolate chips.

But let's say you don't have the kind of chocolate treasure you're looking for in your house... what's your next step? Perhaps you could go out to eat and get a chocolate dessert? Heck, go all out and start out with a chocolate milkshake with your meal. Then everyone eating with you can order some kind of chocolate dessert and perhaps even share it with everyone else. Have a little buffet of chocolate desserts in the middle of your table and nibble them babies down!

But you know you can always just head to the bakery or candy store, right? I mean think of all those chocolate cakes and candy bars just waiting for you! Your favorite candy bar is lonely... it doesn't want to be sitting on a shelf. How could you leave it sit there on a day like this? You're not that kind of person are you? No... you wouldn't leave a candy bar behind... go get it!
