How to Make Your Own Blog Successful on HubPages

If you're looking to make your own blog on HubPages then you need to follow this simple advice to ensure your success.

I'm going to show you why you need to really focus on one main niche, write often and promote your writing.

By the end of this article you'll be ready to rise up in the ranks of HubPages!

Stick to Your Niche

First off you're going to want to decide on a niche or area of interest that you are passionate and knowledgeable about. You want it to be something you're familiar with so that it's not always a stretch for you to write new blogs or answer questions in the comments. You don't want to have to research each and everything you write. You really want to know what you're talking about and add your own ideas into the mix.

And whenever you figure out what niche you want to write in then you should mainly focus on that niche with every post. When you build a following, people are going to expect to hear new things from you regarding that niche. But if you normally write about something like make up and then start talking about politics a lot of people might be a bit turned off by that and not know what to think. They know you know your make up but they're not really interested in talking politics with you, so they may not even respond to a blog like that.

Another thing this will do for you and your readers is that you're going to start figuring out more and more about your niche the more you write about it. You're going to learn more and you'll pass that knowledge onto your readers until eventually you're seen as an expert in the field. And really, you will be an expert by that point!

Write Often

And if you really want to make your own blog successful on HubPages then you need to write often. It doesn't have to be every day, but you'll want toregularlysqueeze in some time to put up some new content. Your followers will be hungry for something new after a while so don't make them wait. If you wait too long they might forget who you are the next time you post but if you post often they'll build a little online relationship with you.

This "relationship" can blossom into them commenting on every blog you post and they may even start to really like you. When your readers like you they look forward to everything you have to say, even if you do slightly dip outside of your niche here and there. They will be glad to hear from you again and respond and maybe even promote everything you post.

So be sure to include a little writing time into your schedule at least once a week, if not more often. It really doesn't take long to pump out a quality blog, especially if you really know your niche. Set aside a little time whenever you're the most productive and just quickly write a blog to keep feeding the fire of your following. And hey, the more posts you have the more likely traffic is going to come your way. Think of each post as a door leading to a party with the rest of your followers. If you have thousands of doors, then it's going to be easy to find a way into the party.

Promote Your Blogs

And lastly you need to provide an invitation to these "doorways" by promoting each of your blogs. HubPages makes it pretty easy for others to promote you through things like Twitter and Facebook but that doesn't mean you can't share it with others yourself! Some people might not be on HubPages and don't know how to find what you're writing about so provide them a link and welcome them into your secret garden.

You can promote through social networks, social bookmarking sites, other blogs, email newsletters and anywhere else you can think of. Since you're targeting a specific niche you can easily brainstorm different places where people interested in your niche would hangout online. That's why I suggest you promote in a few, very popular Facebook groups that are targeted to your niche.

If you post your make up blogs in a make up group on Facebook that has thousands of members then you're going to get a lot of traffic. People on there are hungry for more information about make up, so feed them. And there are even places like FriendFeed and RSS directories where you can submit your RSS feed and then every time you post it automatically updates those sites and draws attention to your blogs.

These are simple but proven ways to make your own blog successful on HubPages or on any site. So pick a niche, write often and promote your work and you'll soon be an expert blogger in your field. You can now dominate HubPages.

I have always heard this as one of the many rules of blogging... however, I am a rule breaker... so I guess my niche is creative writing! Informative hub!

Glad I can help, Pierre91!

Don't worry, barbergirl28... I break the rule myself BUT I've got a great relationship with my readers and they're all interested in a wide variety of topics so they usually respond pretty well to what I write.

That being said, I only really write about fitness, internet marketing, travel and holidays for the most part.

I must put this good advice to work on my blog about life in Limousin. The last post was the one where I told the world that my New year's resolution was to keep my blog up to date, complete with Christmas tree pics!).

Just wondering what you mean by HubPages blog. Do you see the individual articles as blog posts or something completely different?

Yes, definitely keep posting DaisyChain!

I think most people would see "hubs" as informative blog posts. It's what they're use to calling them and the site kind of has a blog layout. But they're not personal blogs, so they do come off as articles more than your common blog.

I just wanted to use a common phrase so people not on HubPages would be coaxed into reading it more. Not many every day people are tempted to start pumping out articles but having a blog is like breathing these days.

I think that my major mistake is not to have a niche. However is also through writing that I am knowing better my interests, therefore I hope that one day I also will have my niche!

Thanks for your useful advice!

My pleasure, fucsia! You'll find your niche eventually... just look at what people respond to the most. If you can find an area of interest that people respond to AND you enjoy writing about it then you're set! For me, fitness and internet marketing get the most response on this site.

Thanks for this. I suppose that the hub pages are just another string to the bow when promoting your blog and should be used alongside all and any other means, the benfit is a potential to earn a few pennies along the way.

Yeah deathbychocolate, you can use this site as your main "blog" or to promote your other sites occassionally in hubs or on your profile. But be sure not to use HubPages as strictly a way to advertise to other sites.
