How to Make Money with a Blog WITHOUT Trying to Make Money
71If you want to know how to make money with a blog then you need to STOP trying to make money!
Don't write blogs just for the money; write blogs to benefit others and they'll want to give back to you.
By the end of this article you will know exactly how to make money with a blog.
Don't Do It for The Money!
If you're truly serious about having a successful blog online, that brings you a steady income, then you can't focus on the money! If that's all you care about then it's going to start to show and your traffic will dwindle, you won't get as many comments and people aren't going to pass your blogs around. You don't want any of that to happen!
When you write with the specific purpose of making money it'll often come off as an ad or something your readers will see right through. They will realize why you're writing about a topic and ignore all your affiliate links or ads. They will see you as a beggar, trying to squeeze change out of all of your readers. Why? Because so many people write for that reason! They're use to seeing it and people are hard to fool these days.
A job is where you make money but a job is also something that people seem to hate. Do you want to hate posting on your blog? Then why focus on making money, which will only make blogging seem like a job and a chore to you? And when you don't see the money coming in, you'll get frustrated, you'll think about quitting and you'll wonder why you even write blogs. These are all good reasons NOT to write for the specific purpose of making money.
Do It to Benefit Others!
Instead you should focus on helping others in any way that you can. It could be something as simple as brightening someone's day but you have to focus on your readers. Most successful writers, bloggers or not, all seem to help people with what they write about. Think about your favorite authors or bloggers... what do they do for you? Why do you follow them and read everything they put out?
Is it because they help you? Is it because it's enjoyable to read everything they write about? It probably is! And when someone helps you out through a simple blog post what do you usually do? You let them know through a comment or you pass it onto someone else you think it would help. You don't look at it as an ad. You read every inch of their page, clicking the links they give you because you trust them. And when you write, you want your readers to feel the same way about you.
Because when you read their comments it's going to make YOU feel good! The praise will make you want to write more often and will show you what people really want to read. It makes blogging seem like less of a job when you can see the difference you are making. And, by paying attention to how people comment, you can easily pick new topics for future blog posts. This is truly how to make money with a blog.
Your Readers Will Want to Pay You!
How can I say that? Well, there's a subconscious need for us to give back when someone gives us something. Like when someone gives you a Christmas present and you kind of feel like you should give them one too. But with blogging it's not quite as forced as feeling like you have to give back. You honestly want to give back because you appreciate what the writer has done for you.
Sure, some of your readers will "give back" by linking to your blog posts and passing them around to others. That will get you a lot more traffic and some new readers. But other people will keep an eye out for what you recommend to them. They will start to trust you and may even want to be in your shoes. So if you recommend a book to them, they're going to want to read it too because maybe it helped you get to where you are. And they won't care if it's an affiliate offer; they will be happy that you showed them the book and feel like you deserve the commission.
And some people might even want to give you money as a donation or for some one on one help. They realize that you need money to survive and that your blog might cost money to keep it online. So some people might want to donate to you so that you keep feeding them your awesome blog posts that help them get through their day. Other people might want you to personally help them through consulting or just answering their questions and will actually pay you to do that. They know you're busy and it might even make them feel a bit special that you'd take time out of your day just for them.
As odd as it sounds, this has been proven to be the best way to make money with a blog. So don't write for money, write for your readers and they'll give back to you because you deserve it. Now you knowhow to make money with a blog!

Very helpful and informative!
Very good - money is nice , but helping others more rewarding - keep writing - awesome.
Excellent hub - This reminds me of when Victor Spinetti asked John Lennon how to write a successful song (because he had never managed to do so). Lennon asked him why he was writing songs in the first place, "to make money" answered Spinetti. "that's where you are going wrong" said Lennon.
Being successful at blog, means you have to spend considerable amount of time on it just to make it successful. I guess, it is the same concept for any kind of businesses or tasks. I have a daytime job and managing a blog is already proved to be a daunting task for me considering that I write on both my blog and hubpages. That's why I always say that 24 hours a day is just not enough.
Anyway, great hub with great advise! Maybe when I am retired, I will be more successful in hubpages and my blog! After all, retire doesn't mean stop once and for all!
Hmm, well OK, I'll try. Truth is I'm not really very keen on my two readers and only throw the words out there to get the merchandising going. I s'pose I could do some of that heartfelt fake genuine stuff if you're really sure there's money in it - but I don't want to waste my time.
Actually I agree with you Bendo. Put the reader, or your writing first, however you see it and try to offer something genuine. Whether riches will follow - it's too early for me to tell.
Great hub, thanks for the advice!
Very good
Thanks for great advice on Blog writing...Great!
Nice post.
Thanks for that advice. I will continue writing because I enjoy giving useful information for free. I update my blogs regularly and will make it more regular.
Good hub...you are going to be more passionate about what you are writing if money isn't your first priority. I am new to Hubpages and am really enjoying reading other hubs.
Any advice on where and how to set up a blog ? I am new to that as well.
I loved this hub it is definitely is going to inspire my writing. Thank you!
rorshak sobchak
Ain't that the truth.
Finally! Every other hub I read about making money on writing blogs -- seemed legit but didn't really hit the spot for me. This was perfect!
Excellent advice. I often notice that one of the first mistakes people make when writing blogs for money is they forget to write anything interesting or relevant...they just stuff keywords and hope for accidental web traffic
Hi Bendo!
Great article. You reminded me what true writing is all about. After reading all the "How to" stuff before you actually start your Hub your Brain is like focused on writing for money, tag words for traffic...stuff like that. Thanks for bringing me back to basics and the important stuff!
Nice one Bendo. If you buy cheap articles from cheap writing services just to fill up your blog, the traffic isn't going to get there. People like following PEOPLE these days, not information or knowledge.
Yeah I agree,I loved this hub it is definitely is going to inspire my writing.
Thanks for the post. I agree with most of what you are saying. Never the less your post was very informative and I realy enjoyed reading it.
JACOB
Thanks for the hub ;) This is really inspiring. Gonna try to monetize my blog again
Great work. Vote up...
Keep It Up.
Sounds like a pretty good philosophy to me.
So many blogs these days are exactly that, advertising. You hit it perfectly. Give the people something useful to read. The rest will fall into place. Content is always going to be king. On many occasions when I land on a blog and bombarded with ads, flashing banners, bells and whistles. I get the hell out. In a few cases, the script on the blog keeps you there, you can get out, runs like a loop. Excellent Hub by the way. Thanks
Very helpful hub! Makes sense to me.
You are very right. Write about what you are passionate about and not about what you think will make money.......good hub and good advice.
I liked it when you said,if you write for money you will get tired and frustrated.Thumbs up, i think all of us should always keep that in mind. thank you its good advice
A nice way of saying 'what comes around goes around'
Very good post! Everything is true, sometimes we focus on make money so much that we forget the fun we can find on it.
Bendo13, I was browsing the internet ran across hubpages and decided to stop in and check it out - I've always wanted to blog, have a lot to share but a little unsure how to start. After reading your advise I'm excited about helping - You keep doing what you do to help others because you're a good example of how it all comes back
Thanks for the article. I have always believe in the 'build it and they will come approach'. great content always wins in the long run!
Great tips, thanks!
This is a great hub and I agree. A lot of times people get carried away with things. Some do it without even realizing it.
Sound advice and I agree, thank you for taking time to write about this!
In short: Write because you love to write. Good article.
Thats good advice you got there. I'v always wanted to write on my OWN blog. It's pretty cool here on hub, you have the ability to write about what you enjoy, plus you can put some adverts in to help. So its a win win all round. But I agree with you, dont write to earn....it wont work!
Awesome advice and it has shown me why my blog doesn't make money or get many followers. Voted up!
Well-said, Bendo ... couldn't agree more. I learned it the hard way myself and only started seeing money come in when I stopped trying to blog for money, and do it for the purpose of sharing what I know for others to benefit from instead.
Hub on!
I have never had a hub with 100 as the score so that speaks very loudly in itself that you have two and what you are doing is working incredibly well!
Great Article Bendo.. It has given me clarity in my own vision. thanks
Refreshing! This is what I have believed through out my life, and believe that it holds true to blogging as well as ministry. If you plant the seed, God will provide the increase.. 1 Cor. 3:6
Writing to help others-- I like it! Yes, writing for money isn't worth it in the end. Writing is so much more enjoyable when you are writing about what you really care about.
If you do something you enjoy, and are passionate about, it will always have it's rewards. Even if it means you still have to "sew tents" to make ends meet.
I have been writing for pleasure and giving advice or infomation on traveling locally..now I would like to make a little money so your article is a start. thank you
Very true! From a reader's point of view, the blogger I trust the most and seems the most sincere about blogging, I buy products from. I will remember who sells what and return when I am ready to buy. BUT the blogger needs to not be in it only for the money. I am picky who my dollars go to.
~Allie
Well-written. I liked the statement "Don't write for money". Writing your thoughts gives a lot of satisfaction and you really feel happy when you receive true comments. That satisfaction and happiness is much more than the money you get out of writing. Will surely remember when blogging.
I feel like there are so many people that make blog pages just to monetize.. I almost feel like it cheapens/steals credibility from the blogger community.. p.s. good job on the 100!!
ACE! you got it in one hub :) really good and very true
That's what I'm going to focus on from now on. great hub useful.
I am appreciate to you for this article
I am new to content writing and find your information very helpful. One of my traits is a care giver I enjoy helping people and I can see from reading your hub you are too. There are not enough people in this world that really care about others and I am glad I happened upon your writing. Thanks for the great content and help!
Its really true. Worth saying !
title itself is catchy !!
I agree with this; after all, if you're focused on money, you're probably not as focused as you could be on the writing. Writing is a joy for me, but when you write just to see your stats increase it never works out, even if you think you've done everything "right". Do quality writing and the money will follow and continue to flow. Good article that underscores what I believe.
This article really helps create the right mindset. I have been thinking about blogging and after reading your hub I feel more confident about it. Thanks.
Thanks! This is great information.
Your advice is very useful. It has changed my views and certainly others about blogging.
Just write to your blog interesting things. If people like it you will soon earn money. However, you will need high PR and at least 100 visitors daily.
AND ALWAYS REMEMBER AS WE SAY IN EADIO" you are only as good as your Last Production
Wow once said it sounds much easier. Thanks for the advice and great writing.
I agree, I agree, I agree:)
I hear a lot of cr@p about mixed-bag blogs from the SEO community, but I have found that when I write whatever I want to write WHEN I want to write it, I not only tend to write more, but I tend to have more passion in my writing.
Several years ago I wrote an article on my personal, mixed-bag blog about how I thought something was unfair. My blog post became popular and I was contacted and interviewed about it by the Wall Street Journal. Weeks later it became a front-page article in the WSJ and my blog became even more popular.
Since then, I turned that article into a hub which receives a nice amount of traffic (not a high paying nor high CTR niche, sadly) and it's one of my more popular hubs. Had I not felt the freedom that a mixed-bag blog gives me, I probably would have never written the article.
I do want to say that seriously my MOST popular hubs are the ones that come from the heart and not from keyword research in Google AdWords. Great hub!
Your advice is very good, too often we let our focus drift to money and that seldom works.
Voted up and useful!
Great hub. I have to admit, when I first joined Hubpages, I joined for the money. However, after I joined, I found that I loved writing and the feedback from other readers. The more I wrote about things that interested me, the more positive my feedback became ... specifically about the level of energy in articles.
Great advice ... you have a new regular reader.
good advice, thanks .
I love this Blog but i am wondering how do you bring traffic in to your blog?
Great advice, thanks, some of my blogs are not my favorite topics. Need to work on helping the readers.
Very nice, well said!
Very informative.
Good advice and makes perfect sense. Still its not for everyone. Most of us want to see some results, and that means money, fast!
Excellent hub - voted up. The key is to focus on what is great and let the money sort itself out. I like this!
Do what you love and the money will follow, kind of advice.
I love writing about New Mexico, my adopted home. I also NEED to give myself discipline and I do so with my blogging.
Voted up!
Nice info .. thanks..
Hi I have just started so good infomation like this helps so much to understand how it all work. Many thanks.
This hub proves one thing to me - simple and straightforward writing and ideas still have hope!!!
Cheers and beer to you Bendo!
Ordered a couple of the books. Giving back!!!
very true. i agree with u.
Thanks for the info. It makes real sense and I will act on the new found knowledge.
Thanks for the advice. I agree with you. I enjoy writing and have been doing it for years. I love reading. It inspires me to share and my writing helps me share with others. My faith also inspires me to share with others.
Great information, thanks for sharing.
Voted up and interesting, as well as useful. I am new to HP and reading Hubs like this helps tremendously. I wanted to do this for the money, but am realizing that I just enjoy writing. So maybe, if I make some money, good enough, if not, at least I can still write. Thanks, Bendo13!
In just minutes I learned so much. Thank you.
Hello there Bendo13,
For some reason there are a number of new hubbers who are anticipating getting a mass number of followers and to make money rapidly upon joining hubpages. I noticed that this pass week and replied with my own tips as a hubber.
Respectfully,
Sapphireid
Great advice in your hub,and although I know patience and effort almost always pays off ,its good to read of the benefits and get a fresh dose of inspiration for free.
To Your Best Life Bendo13!
Great hub and it gives some sound advice on what not to do when bloggong. I look forward to reading more. I voted you up for useful. Thanks look forward to reading more.
Great advice. Very informative. Thanks.
top advice, im trying to get into blogging so this has been helpful :)
U definitely touched a positive nerve. And a universal truth!
Good advice, very informative. thanks
great way to make money
how to do a website free
Obviously by the round of comments on your Hub you are on to something. Good job!
Thank you from San Diego :)
What you are saying is just good sense, I don't know how I would survive in this if I didn't like what I was doing. It would be great to earn some income, but this is really more of a hobby interest. It's so much fun to write about stuff we know and actually have others read it. But its also just as much fun reading what everyone else has to say.
I can't wait to get home from my day job to have fun with Hub Pages. Thanks for sharing your expertise!
Wow,,, what away to make money easy? I like tis site.
Excellent hub. Good hubs attracts good reading.I enjoyed reading Bendo13 hubs and never to miss any.
Great read! Reading your hub was time very well spent! I learned a lot and will put what I learned to use on my hubs! Thanks again!
-courtlneygdtm
Love that you have pointed this out to people!
amazing post. Don't do it for the money. The money will come after, first do it because you're passionate about it! Great advice.
Hi. I caught an idea reading hub. Thanky
Thank you Bendo13 for this hub. Lot of nice tips. I haven't given enough thought to my blog as I should. This hub is of great help
u r right..good article..
Good stuff! And it goes along with the my own approach to writing!
Great advise. I like your article. May God bless you.
Excellent Hub. Thanks for reminding me what it's all about1
Very nice Hub..voted "Useful"..
If you have something valuable to offer to people, and there's a demand for it. Then you have the recipe for success in the blog world.
Yes, I agree...sounds like 'Do what you love and the money will follow." Thanks for grounding everyone!
Great Hub, thanks for posting. You are right if you hate to keep making Hubs its time to quit.
Interesting Hub. Have you found you can make money from your Hubs? Just curious. I write about helping people experience more miracles in their life. Peace and Light: Gary.
Thank you, your hub is very helpful, honest and thoughtful.
I have always written things for the reader and myself to enjoy. The motive is to share your niche and let the readers let you know what they want in products. Great hob and voted up.
interesting thoughts....thanks!
This is a great article Bendo, it's simple yet informative. I completely agree though. As I had read on a few hubs when I first started, they had explained how not only submitting hubs but help other honestly answer their questions and struggles or to inform about a subject. Mostly thus far on hubpages I've submitted mostly poetry and a couple essays I wrote regarding specific subjects, as well as a short story. I only really started applying myself three days ago and I've already reached 45. I think the reason it escalated quickly is because I have been doing what you are explaining. It might be by coincidence, but I came across hubpages when trying to find a way to get paid on the side while I'm finishing college. I'm a writing student and I've just been looking for a way to practice what I love to do. This really is a great network for people who love to do the same. Voting up!
sounds like good.Do what you love and the money will follow. Thanks for grounding everyone!
I loved this hub it is definitely is going to inspire my writing. Thank you!
Bendo13, you're quite correct in what you are saying, and the proof is in the pudding as you have gotten major response to this hub. It's cool how you also put just the right title book ads on this hub to make me want to click into the Amazon store and purchase one or two. Very smart! You're a great example to follow.
Smile - Carlon Michelle
Great write up i love it, infact it has really broading my knowledge on doing what you love best.Better t give than to take
Generally, how long or how many blogs do people have before they begin earning money? i needto know if I am spinning my wheels and need to go a different way.
I am still having fun doing this though!
I think it takes more than just blogging. I don't get all the marketing stats at all behind the scenes you have to do. I have all the necessary things like adsense, amazone, etc...but I too am baffled. I use google keywords... uh, we need a how to tutorial.
I think Bendo13 you are the man to show us.
Hi alpha---I do the amazon/adsense etc etc and I work on key-words and selecting product.
still learning.....huh!
a tutorial on how to understand seo, how to go about using keywords,...A visual is better for us kinesthetic learners. I have made .06cents with 15 hubs. I need more traffic. Can't even buy a gumball.
I will analyze this in 6 months.
U r write.. i respect ur point of view..
Awesome advice! When someone is only for the money it's obvious that he or she will forget important step of the process, like creating real value for the visitors!
very good advice!
So I guess I've been on the right path. I started out almost a year ago writing. I like to choose the subjects that I can help people in, it makes me feel good that I am trying to help others in the way that I am able to.
very true and useful advice - I know that as a reader I am turned off by bloggers who seem to be all about "what's in it for me"
I take your approach giving useful information that benefits others. I have a "coffee cup" donation feature that I find quite useful - it's very non-invasive and says "if you enjoy your time here etc consider buying Christin a coffee to show your support" - it works. I get a few coffee's a month and it's a nice incentive to keep on producing good content and doesn't come off as pushy or only wanting money etc. Great hub.
I think the number of comments on this hub say it all!
I've already clicked on one of the Amazon links because it looked useful and interesting..
Thanks :-)
This is exactly why I write Teddy's Tidbits. I have done online writing for payment through a couple of sites - and it is definitely work. HubPages is the exact opposite! [voted up and useful]
Thanks. it reminded me why I enjoy writing - to please others.
Well, it should really be basic for true bloggers to prioritize value to the contents on their blogs and think of monetary value as a consequence.
Good points Bendo, thank you. I am just getting started and like a lot of people I have a niche that I am passionate about and I feel the information I share has value.
How do you find the line between over promotion and quality content with a subtle soft sale?
Just traffic numbers? User feedback? I imagine a combination, but, as a content publisher just starting out, I have no metrics with which to gauge my impact.
Any advice would be welcome and greatly appreciated!
Great hub, I agree that if you just think about the potential of earning money, then you can lose sight of the pure enjoyment of writing. Just writing for personal self-fulfilment and to share it with others.
Writing passionately about something that genuinely interests you is more likely to bear fruits.
Thank you-great hub .
Thanks for sharing this. It's great advice especially for those that are just starting to blog like myself. I couldn't agree more that what you write should be about how it can benefit others, not just what can I do to make money.
Thank you! Very informative!!
Thanks, never though of that. People giving donations just to keep you there.
this one gets a big thumbs up. I am soooooo on the same page with you on this one:-) Life is simple if you let it be that way. Thanks for this one
Just enjoy writing and people will enjoy your writing. Very inspiring and informative. Thank you.
The title itself speaks a lot..once again very true information and very much informative..feel like reading again and again to get more information.....
Thanks for the great Hub, but "Don't Do It for The Money!" is easier said then done as most of us aren't great writers. I use the goal of making money as an incentive to get better at writing.
. . . . . . . . . . . .i need an iphone *sigh*(hangs head in shame). . . . But hey . .u r rite. . . V cn try 2 b helpful
insightful hub. I think I was starting to forget about writing for passion and fun.
At some point I thought that writing more heartfelt things would injure my readership, just because it would probably be too personal. Eventually, the idea of and need to get some extra bucks here and there, got me going after profit writing and forget about what I like about writing - the learning process, the research, the connection to a piece.
I have to thank you for reminding me of this!
I also like the advice you gave myi4u (in the comments), to create two version of the same content, or an introduction to the actual article on the blog and link it up. Thought about it a while ago, but wasn't sure it would do much, plus was afraid that I would just end up not being able to juggle hubpages and a blog in terms or time and content. I guess is does make sense and probably I should go for my idea of starting a personal blog of my own.
I guess I should thank you for that one too!
Cheers
Now that was an interesting hub. So many try to blog and get readers but fail to understand once you get the readers now you have to keep them interested or they move on. Anyway thanks for keeping it real. This hub has given me some great thoughts about how I may I've been trying to blog for all the wrong reasons Thanks
Thanks so much for the advice!
Great Hub for the bloggers! You have given useful tips and advice to attract readers online. Thank you so much Bendo13. Voted Up!
nice read for the beginning blogger about profiting from blogging..
Very useful information for bloggers!
Great piece, informative, and truthful!
Awesome! voted up and rated useful. This article is really insightful. I couldn't agree more.
Writing to benefit others--great perspective, even for those of us who write for the love of writing. We all need to eat (healthy, I might add). :) I want to learn more about web writing so thanks.
Voted up.
Awesome, great advice :)
So true! I voted you up! It is not easy to find good, high quality websites and people these days. One thing that is tough though, it seems that somehow the poor quality sites can still get good rankings in the SERPS! And here I am working my tail off with good, non-salesy content, and it takes forever to get ranked well if I use only ethical methods! I am hoping that it will pay off eventually!
Great hub. Straight forward and to the point. I have been a talented writer since early childhood. I am considering writing freelance and blogging to supplement my family's income I NEED HELP
Bendo13 your hub was very useful and i am sure that it will help me.
Great information.I will remember this when I am writing on my blog. Thanks.
"Do it to benefit others" that's the point. I see bloggers like trent hamm of "simple dollar" doing it for solving problems of readers and is making sufficient money with blogging. Nice hub Bendo13.
Great advice and interesting topic! It seems like a lot of what I've ran across is what you described - people writing hubs and blogs without any soul - just for the chance to make some money. I think most of us are smart enough, as you allude, to see through that BS. Cheers, MU
But majority of the people start blogging with money as their first preference and get dejected soon.
Good article. The first preference should always be about giving valuable information :)
but um you were having ads all over the place on ur hub so it really makes no sense???
I agree there has to be a deeper satisfaction than just money! Money alone won't bring success
Love this post!
That's a very healthy outlook. Strong advice!
I like your point of view. Thank you for sharing!
Good advice - by the way - I grew up in a small town right near where you are - Renovo.
Great advice. Love your work and you will never work a day in your life. Thanks for the wonderful hub!
Great advise, will bookmark this so I can go back to it.
I find the hardest thing is making a hub interesting.
I like your Each and Every line of Hub as no doubt your every word is full of meaning and knowledge like newbies for us.
But I also have simple and straight forward rule in my life " Help others to be Happy in Life " I have a strong belief that if you will run for money you will always. So Money is not everything in life.
Thank you Bendo13 for your words of encouragement.
Great hub on this topic. Making money with blogging without trying to....I love the title...Thanks Bendo for such great info. Voting up
Very well done! Thank you for sharing!
Hi! Great advice
Thanks for your advice- really helps to navigate hubpages when you're trying to figure it all out. Much appreciated.
Excellent posting. I'm hoping the money comes from passionate writing. My traffic numbers aren't high but I do have a highly loyal reader base because, in my mind, I write with passion and I don't focus on revenue. keep up the great work, I know I will.
Mr.Bendo really i liked ur hub and i voted up too its was informative for me and i gained few tips in it Thanks for the hub........
Can't agree with you more! It's the same for companies. Those who actually care about what they do seem to flourish!
Excellent advice! voted up :-)
Thanks!
Thank you I love this !
This is quite the article. I never really thought about writing for others. Just myself. Guess maybe I should try thinking differently? Well done. :) Keep up with the great work. Keep on penning. Thank you so very much for sharing you wonderful and creative talents with us. We all truly appreciate it.
*S* Cynthia
Way to go with this one, just what I needed to see, it's great to note that people can and do see through to the good stuff! Many blessings and thank you for writing this!
Excellent post. Deems bookmarking.
thank you , glad your give better clues for nb like me
love this article! thumb up...
Although I am new to this blog site hubpages. I have been blogging since the earliest days of the internet. We used to call them bulletin boards. These were used to exchange ideas etc. I have never made money from blogging and never expected to. I suppose the type of person that wants to make money from writing should really write a book; or for magazines and newspapers but don't bother with this method it will never happen.
Good advice from this blog non the less. Thanks.
Thanks, I do try to remember that, how can I serve people when I am writing new posts.
Great advice. Thanks so much!
Great advice for a first timer take all the help I can get. ;) Thank you again!
Great article!
I think CJ affilaite is suitable
Awesome. Thanks for the passionate hub it was very motivating and informative. I'm new here and I love to help others with my hubs it makes me feel needed and important in the lives of others as God put us all here to be a blessing and service to others.
What's this CJ Affiliates? everyone is on about. never heard of them.
I thought I did a hub but I had to cut out so much as of the same wording or similar, now it's too short.
Any advice Bendo13.
I liked this article. When I first joined hubpages I wrote things I thought I could write quickly in order to make money. After coming back around I am determined to write well and write things which are useful and interesting to me. Those always turn out to be the better articles anyhow.
I will try this at home Bendo...
Thank you for your blog. Very interesting and certainly rated up. Something fresh and a new perspective for me.
I agree, this is fantastic advice ! We tend to get things backwards, give FIRST, then you RECEIVE... great post !
This is so true, I started writing a book 2 years ago just for the fun of it and once I got close to the ending of the book I started researching through writers market where to best market my book, to make a long story short once I found where, I went back to my book with how much money it would possibly make and when I tried to do the ending of my book, blank, I got what most people call writers block, my creativeness just disappeared, so now I am picking back up my book with an open mind just to enjoy the writing as I started out writing it, for the fun and for people to read and get a good laugh, well the juices are now flowing and I will keep my focus on the fun and whatever publisher picks it up I will be grateful.
Thank you so very much for this article, it helped me to understand why my creative juices just stopped.
Thank you Bendo
thank you for your blog, i'm interseting about how to make money with blog
i am just starting my hub and i was thankful for coming across this article.i mean, i need to have some kind of principle to guide me if i need to proceed with this. and this one you wrote is a gem. kudos!
Thanks,will do that.
Just started my blog three weeks ago and have already posted 5 articles, really am cool about it all because I have had the benefit of reading this article just before launching it.I will just give my heart and soul to my blog and if I really deserve it whenever it takes God will reward me with what is due eventually. Is this the right mindset?
Definitely a good Hub, this hub is something you can benefit from... Excellent Bendo 13
Thank you for posting this. I am going through a stage of what to write about. This helps to keep my focus. Votes up
Bendo13, you are right, you are right, you are right, you are sooooo right! Amazing hub!
Thanks for sharing, very interesting and most helpful.
Interesting read. The flip side to this is that a lot of writers like me don't write with money in mind and often ignore such things and back links and seo optimization etc. They end up making very little or no money. I guess it's about finding a balance.
Thanks for sharing the hub.
wonderfully written and so very true. my own writing is done both for the joy of writing and to share with others something i feel will benefit them or something i myself find beautiful and hope they will as well. thank you for sharing this. voted up and across. have a wonderful night.
True, true, true! I am glad I am not the only one who sees it that way. Excellent commentary and advice. I look forward to reading more from you.
Thank you! Very good advices.
Congratulations on being number one. Well it is three months later and your advice from this Hub has greatly improved my traffic and ranking. I have helped a half dozen website owners get started and countless short articles/reviews. It has been a great but very hard three months of working 12-16 hours behind the computer for zero pay. But, three months later my own websites are generating enough money to sustain my love of graphics and design. My point is, don't think about the money part, that will come eventually. Greatly because of your article I have focused on my objective, do what I love first, the rest will follow. Hope that made sense. Thanks
nice info hub
Thank you for this!
hi bendo13 where can i start a blog ? I'm not very good at blogging but i would like one where i don't have to say everything i do but where i can share stuff with people with similar questions as me ? Can you help ? ( You seem very knowledgeable ;P everybody is asking you stuff :D )
Everything you wrote here makes perfect sense. Thank you for the inspiration. :)
Hello, Bendo, since you always answer my question promptly and clearly I come to you again. There is a new system on Google Adsense; would that concern HUbPages? If so maybe you could write a hub about it and explain it all better. Also how to change the account?
Great article!
Thank you, Bendo, for your kindness to bother with me, computer dummie.
Very true. Too often, marketers have told me not to spend more than "10 minutes apiece" on my hubs. Yet, I've found that they have the lowest scores and least amount of followers. Thanks for the refreshing advice!
Do what you love, love what you do, and don't let money come between you and your love. Nice piece, Thanks
Sweet advice for a noob. Thanks a bunch!
Thank you so much for that very informative and friendly advise. Yes money is not always the reason what is important is we can share and help out in our own very best.
Thanks again and God bless you always.
Agree with your useful article. Don't make blog for money, but to benefit others with your knowledge. What an insight!
I certainly agree that making your blog useful reading for others is the main objective. The money will follo if you keep a readership and provide quality information to those who need it.
do gud for others and u will obviously get the reward....
thanx beno
very nice hub
great hub! I will post to facebook for others to share!
I like this philosophy. Zig Ziglar says by helping others to get what they want you'll get what you want. Also what you said "paying attention to how people comment, you can easily pick new topics for future blog posts" is so true. It starts the thought processes churning.
great hub! lots of great n true advice!
After the google panda updates it is evident that good quality content is king but honestly I still think a little bit of keyword research can go a long way.
Very sensible hub. Many thanks!
I like to write inspirational stuff and I've been told it doesn't earn as much as other topics. But I didn't know what else to write so I went on anyway. And yes, I've been earning through google adsense and HP ads program. It does pay to focus on your passion and the money will follow. Thumbs up Bendo! Great hub!
New to this site and appreciate your article! Great advice!
Very inspirational - gonna try to put some of this to use :)
I'm not a blogger, but your attitude and approach is good for any endeavor. As far as blogging and hubbing are concerned, let me give a sloppy quote from the book of Ecclesiastes.
It is good for a man to grasp a thing in one hand and not let goof something else withthe other, The one who loves God will come forth wit both.
I aqm a freelanc artist and writer. I have found you are right. When I set out simply to make money, something always seems to ruin the day before it is all over.
You are an angel Bendo! I love this hub! You inspired me. Thanks!
Bendo 13 hey!
Very nice post! The way i view posts has changed after your post. I vote up!
Cheers and keep those good posts coming!
Great advice! I appreciate the article and I'll keep that in mind when it comes to my book I'm publishing "Nostrovia!". Check it out on my hub and tell me what you all think of my writing!
Refreshing -- much better fit with how I want to work. Articles on keyword analysis give me a headache. I do commercial writing for a living -- when I write here, it has to be something I'm enthusiastic about. Thanks for providing a focus on giving value to the reader.
VERY HELPING HUB. FULL OF AFFECTION TO NEWLY BORN WRITERS. I STILL SEARCHING IN YOUR HUB AS TO HOW AN INTELLIGENT AND MOST ATTRACTIVE HUB MAY BE CREATED. IF YOU HAVE IDEA ABOUT THE INGREDIENTS OF SUCH HUBS, PLEASE EXPLORE AND OBLIGE THE NEW WRITERS.
New to the hub and really enjoyed this article. Will have to come back and read again. Very interesting!
Wow! Thank you! Loved it! I am very new to Hub Pages and I've made alot of mistakes, but I hope the more I do it the more I will see improvement. I totally agree that it is so important to keep the reader in mind. I was a member of Toastmasters International for 16 years (international public speaking organization) and I was taught to always have the audience in mind, NOT myself. I've been a writer most of my life. So glad to have discovered Hub Pages and I am trying to make composing inspirational hubs a priority! YOURS WAS A MASTERPIECE. Sincerely, Sparklea - Hub newbie :)
Great article. It really is hard to not do it for the money when there are bills to be paid though.
Btw my Kid bro looked at your picture and said you look like voldemort
Thanks for the Hub. Tremendous help.
Lol at the above comment
making money is really fun..especially when the money keeps coming and coming..

Great article - love the insight as so many other sites are focusing on how to make money with your blog while TRYING to make money.
Great insight! You are simply pointing in the right direction: making money means to serve a customer. If no one is buying (reading), there is no market.
Sell (Write) for the benefits or to fulfill the needs of someone, they will pay and there is a market.
We are living in a time with informational over flow. To be seen every writer has to find his community.
As in every business a little additional marketing will help to increase making money, but marketing can't compensate for the lack of quality!
Great hub! I've learned something new today. Thanks!
nice advice. I'll try to put it up in my blog and suggest my friends.
Excellent advice! I will add that it takes a lot of time too. Many people expect overnight success, but it takes a while to build readership.
Your article/essay helped me to write what was on my heart at the moment (reintegration after deployment). I usually blog about romantic love. Thank you for the inspiration to continue (even though I have yet to make money!).
Hey Bendo, I usually write about problems I have found solutions to. I once wrote a small 4 page blog on an indestructible mailbox because my regular mailbox became batting practice every other weekend. I know a lot of people have the same problem, that's why I wrote the blog, not intending on anyone even reading it, but I figured if someone did find my blog, I could point them in it right direction. Now I make money with adsense and Amazon, go figure:) it's funny, if you search indestructible mailbox, my blog comes up, and I just wanted to help people, I wrote from the heart and it pays off :) great hub, good advice, voted up.
wow....this is good opinion. So, iwantto try it.
This hub and theory makes a lot of sense. Just keep on blogging and dont even pay attention and before you know it the money will start coming. Very well written hub
Great article. Written with such common sense and purpose. Enjoyed reading your topic. Thanks for sharing.
That is true, great content will attract readers and income as well!
This is a very good hub! I must say I have visited this quite a few times and I can't quite know why. All very good information and a great way of thinking about blogging
Great hub! I was once told if you want to make money online to take your most valuable knowledge and then give it away for free. This is so true and your hub is right on the mark.
It is really worth trying to think about readers first, and if they like your blog, then monetizing it is not a huge problem.
Bendo, thank you for your article it's great. I am retired with a good income. I started writing because I have a lot to say. Even though I have a lot so say I have been researching how and when to say things and when and where to post them. I have the time to do this, some do not. I would encourage those who do not have the time to do both research and preparation while blogging to research and prepare first.
Interesting point of view Bendo13! One of my blogs gained PR2 a couple of months after i stopped my monetizing attempts, i.e. i stopped writing, promoting and linking. After i wrote so much content i told my self "stop mate, give it some time". And it worked. Sometimes doing nothing is better than doing everything :).
That's an interesting title. If you think you could earn money from the next day then you're wasting your time. Thanks for sharing the "common senses"
Good advice. I am sure it works. Thanks
nice one.....really loved it :)
Great!!
Love the advise. I just started a new blog and am trying to do what you have suggested. I love to check out people's blogs, about home projects, crafts, and the like. I am trying to create something that I myself would like to see. But am a bit lazy.
A very beautiful hub! Kudos!
Good post, thanks for sharing, i learned alot :)
Thanks for the advice. Very inspiring. Keep it up
Hi Bendo, Keep coming back to this hub and find a different answer each time. I only hope one day I can make it flow like you do and help others too.
Thanks.
Great share! Thanks. Worth trying, for sure!
oh my God, whats this
Great advice, Bendo. Thanks for sharing. Hopefully I can make it work for me.
I have personally found this to be true Bendo. Great points. Voted up.
Thanks for the great advice man.
It's amazing how something so simple can be right in front of us, yet be so easly overlooked! Thanks for the valuable tip Bendo13....I will put it to use.
Excellent Advice!
So true. Do it because you want to and you will achieve greater success than doing it for money.
good content
Hi Bendo13 you are right and thankfully my head is now in the right place. Thanks I owe you one. I have embraced to 21st century.
Yes I totaly agree, if you want to sell and be succesfull you must do your work with love and passion. Does any of you blogers makes money from blog or from HubPages? I'm so curious, bcs I've been trying to find something that is worthed to work online. Help me pls :D
Hi Bendo13, what a brilliant hub. I can see what you mean about writing a hub not just for the money. I will hold my hands up for that one, especially when I first started but I don't now. I love doing it and making new friends. If I earn it will be a bonus.
It is a lot of reading so it is bookmarked for me to refer to. Thank you.
Very useful hub thanks! *voted up*

Reading this hub is the best thing I could have done for myself today; I have been feeling down of late because I don't feel like my hubs are "commercial enough" and I'm not reaching enough people. This gave me the shot of confidence I needed to keep on keeping on with what I am doing, which is writing hubs that I feel might help others. Thank you for this!

Very good and sound advice. Thank you Bendo.
