If you want highly targeted traffic crashing down on your site nonstop then you need to read this article!

I'm about to show you a simple method to find sites that you should have your ads on and then I'll update you on my journey to the number one spot on Google.

By the end of this article you will know how to advertise your business on the best sites to bring in loads of targeted traffic.

How to Advertise Your Business

Alright let me quickly give you a simple exercise you can do to find sites that you should have ads on. It doesn't really matter if you have a business or not; this can work for any page or site you want to get traffic to. But first you want to get into the mind of your customer or reader. Imagine that you're looking for the product that you are selling or the information that is on your page. What would you type into the search engine to find what you're looking for?

OK, now do that... type it into the search engine and see what comes up. Look at the top 5 results on that page, one at a time, and see if you can advertise on those pages. Search around and see if they already have ads on their page or if they have a link for advertisers to check out. You can repeat this step over and over if you like to build up a handful of different sites that will allow you to advertise on them. But why would you want to advertise on these sites, right?

Well, the people looking for what you offer are going to end up on these pages more often than not. So, if you have your ad on these pages, there's a good chance that you'll be able to filter off a ton of this traffic right to your site. You don't have to work at SEO and all that crap... just go to the top, slap an ad on there and enjoy some of the targeted traffic! And if they have ads on there like Adsense, just ask them how much they make in a month from a particular ad and then say you'll match it. Trust me; you probably won't end up paying much for these ads and you'll get a lot of traffic if your ad catches their attention!

Google Ranking Experiment Update

Alright, now that you know how to advertise your business let's get into the update on my experiment that I outlined in my article titled "My Journey to the Top Search Engine Ranking on Google". In this experiment I'm broadcasting my results on how long it takes me to hit the number one spot on Google, because you guys are helping me get there! So go check out that article and and feel free to leave your suggestions on that hub.

I had gotten a great suggestion on how to add links to your sites with an overlay over top of YouTube videos, but I haven't come up with a way to use that to boost my ranking yet. So instead, I took another suggestion from Barbara Kay and posted an article on Squidoo. I targeted my keyword in the anchor text of one of the links and another keyword in another link. I like to use a different keyword on occasion so that it looks more natural, because not everyone is going to use your target keyword if they're linking to you. So to keep it natural and make it look like I'm not the one doing all the linking, I use an additional keyword here and there.

But, I have yet to hit the top ranking pages on Google yet... I'm not in the top 5 pages yet. I know, patience my young grasshopper. I'm not worried about IF it will happen, I know it will, I just have to keep working at it.

Advanced Performance Details

Again, I only got 7 impressions for my Google ads on that article and managed to pull in no clicks. But that might be because we're in that natural swoop down of traffic after the initial burst. Usually you get a lot at first, it dips down and then it gradually rises to the top again. So, that being said, I only got 8 hits yesterday on that article.

Most of the hits were from HubPages and then one of my readers clicked the link to my article in their Hotmail inbox. This is how it usually goes for me at first until Google starts recognizing the backlinks and you hubbers start really promoting and giving that article some love. The keywords that brought people to my article were actually "shetoldme review" and "hubpages". The first keyword phrase probably brought someone to my article because of the comments, so it pays to really get some good conversations going on in your comments. The results are slowly coming in but I feel that within a week things will look a bit better for that article.

The method I just taught you on how to advertise your business is proven to bring you enough traffic so you can avoid waiting to rank higher like I am. So start searching around and slap your ads on some of these pages or even ask to write a guest post with a link back to your site. Now you know how to advertise your business without the headache of SEO.

Ahh, again on the comments- SheToldMe review. Now I realized why comments and active participation in the community is useful for all. I never thought of it.

Its not even a week I'm following you and I've learned a whole year lesson on link building, keywords and SEO. This is why followers and following is so important. Thanks!

Thanks for the useful, Phil! Yeah, paid advertising probably isn't the best bet for hubs, but maybe in the future you can use it.

Haha nice frugalfamily ;)

I'm glad I can help you out so much Suramya.K! It's a learning experience for me too! I'm thinking it was either passed along to me like I explained in my last comment to you or perhaps Google tracks internal searches HubPages too.. so if someone searched for shetoldme review, I might come up in the results since in the HubPages search results it actually shows specific results for comments.
