August 28th is National Bow Tie Day
66If you're looking for something to do today then I hope you're feeling stylish because it's National Bow Tie Day!
Take that, you normal neckties!
Let's get right into celebrating National Bow Tie Day!
Why is this a holiday?
Well, there's nothing wrong with a bow tie and they're actually kind of stylish but there's a problem... You see, if someone wears a bow tie these days then they're normally seen as some kind of dork. But yet, when you go to a really high class event, what do you wear? You pop on a tuxedo and ice the cake with a bow tie! So today is the day to bring back a little recognition to bow ties and to say, "No, I'm not a dork... I'm stylish!" Neckties are everywhere and they've had their time to shine. Now it's time for bow ties to show their true colors.
The bow tie got its start way back in the 17th century during the Prussian wars. The Croatian mercenaries tied a scarf around their necks to hold their shirts shut. The upper class Frenchmen saw this, started doing it themselves and called it a cravat. The French were the leaders in the fashion world at that time so this style spread throughout the next couple of centuries. But they are not sure if the idea of the cravat spawned both the normal necktie and the bow tie at once, or if the bow tie came first and then the necktie evolved from that.
But there is one thing that's nice about bow ties. You see, tying a tie is somewhat difficult for some and it doesn't matter if it's a bow tie or a regular necktie; it's still hard! But with a bow tie you have three options... You can get a bow tie that you tie yourself, a clip-on bow tie or you can get a bow tie that is sew into place and has an adjustable neck strap. So there is no more worrying about learning how to tie the perfect bow. So you have two easy options and only one way to look...
Stylish!
How to Celebrate
So, how can you celebrate today?
Well, it's pretty simple, especially if you already own a bow tie and have some kind of formal even to go to. But hey, if you don't have any event to go to then just find an excuse to wear a bow tie. If you work in an office and you normally wear a regular necktie, then you know what to do. And if you don't work in a formal office then just get all suited up and go about your day. Sure, you'll turn some heads but if you look good, you look good!
But if you don't have a bow tie then go shopping for one! Put on a nice dress shirt and head out to a local department store and start shopping around. If you want to look good then opt for the best looking one you can find. If you still think bow ties are dorky then play off that idea and get the wildest looking one out there. You may even need to get the special shirts that have the collar that works best with bow ties, but either way you're going to be pimpin'!
And if you really want to go all out today then get a bow tie that you have to tie yourself. Yep; you're going to learn how to tie that bow tie! I'm sure there are tons of videos out there of people showing you how to tie them, so it shouldn't take you that long. And once you master it you'll not only look fashionable but you'll also have a new skill in your toolbox!
Have a great day and dang you look good!

Love this!!!
Like those patterned ties...and you can get them really cheap on Amazon, maybe I'll buy a bunch of them for Christmas presents!
As the 11th doctor would say "bow ties are cool"
I am going to keep a list of the saying that you say, which I like the best... and then I am going to send the list to you and you can rap them as a hub.... who knows... maybe you can end up hosting the emmy's or something....
You look distinguished in you bow tie. It's too bad bow ties are odd when not going to a formal affair. They are indeed easier to use. I'm glad I don't have to worry about trying to tie a tie.
Oh, and I prefer the white tie of the ones you tried out.
i'd rather thumbs up to your bow tie!...LOL . its so cute! and you look adorable in your suit man...
Cute Hub!
If you ever end your series, it would be nice if you'd pick it up with "Tomorrow is." That way I won't miss out on the formal wear.
I think that white bow tie on the black shirt is pretty spiffy. You should go with that look from now on.
