If You Want to Be Rich, You NEED to Read This!

Updated on February 26, 2014

If you desire to be rich, then sit down and read this right now. You are about to discover the exact methods that some of the richest people throughout history have used to gain their riches. By the end of this article you will have a new mindset, the mindset of someone who will soon be rich, so be sure to read it all, from top to bottom.

These are my thoughts and reflections after reading one of the best books that has ever been written on the topic of success. This is what I got from reading the book, it might not be what you get from it, but I think that everyone should read this book at some point if they want to be successful.

This book was compiled after more than 20 years of research and interviews with some of the richest people at that time.

And these "secret" methods kept popping up time and time again, in every interview.

It seems that everyone who has seen such a huge success has done it through the following steps, even if they didn't realize they were implementing them.

But let's get right into the true content so that you can gain your riches too.

Know what you want.

The first step is to want something; that's it... take that step.

This isn't just a vision or dream; this is something you will achieve because you want it that bad. Dream, but dream with a purpose and let your desire lead you down the path you have planned to make that dream a reality.

Set a goal, a definite goal, that you want to achieve no matter what and don't think about wishing, hoping or saying, "gee, I'd really like to reach this goal." Know that you WILL reach it and don't let anyone or anything try to convince you otherwise.

People may meet you once you have achieved it and just see you as lucky, without looking at how you got there. They might think you had it handed to you and ignore that your desire, your thoughts and your actions are what got you there, and you didn't achieve your goal the first time around... you saw failed attempts and you stepped on their backs to help boost you up past them.

Here's an exercise you should do to get started:

  • Choose a definite amount of money you want to earn
  • Decide how you're going to earn it
  • Give yourself a deadline
  • Write down a plan on how you're going to get there
  • And start at once!

Write this down in an easy to read statement for yourself, hang it on your wall and read it at least twice a day out loud. As you read it imagine that you already have it.

Defeat is not something that is real in the minds of successful people.

You have to believe that you can succeed and then you are ready for success.

Your flaws, errors and so called "failures" will serve as a benefit to you as they mold your behaviors and you learn how to perfect your path to your goal.

Have faith in your desire to reach your goal and believe that you will achieve it.

You WILL achieve it.

Visualizing and believing you'll get what you see is the second step.

If you want something bad enough then don't push it to the back of your mind... think about it all the time... think about how you're going to achieve it and work toward getting to your goal on a daily basis. If you do this then opportunities will spring up all around you.

By repeating what it is you desire to achieve and how you plan to achieve it, you will build faith that you will achieve it. All thoughts with emotion and faith behind them will become real.

Those who think they have bad luck, will... those who think they have good luck, will... When you think about something as if you already have it then it's easy to trick your mind into giving it to you.

You can convince yourself that a lie is the truth if you repeat it enough times.

The vibration of your thoughts will attract similar vibrations that harmonize with the mindset you already have.

You are what you eat and your brain creates your world.

So if your thoughts are what your brain eats then your thoughts create your world. If you eat bad food your body will make use of it and make a bad body. If you think bad thoughts then your brain will make use of it and create a bad life.

What you think about and desire most is what you will get, even if it's failure that's always on your mind. You are your thoughts... your thoughts mold YOUR world. Never let anyone think for you.

Our thoughts build our reality... We are who we are because of the choices we have made and it's no one's fault but our own. OUR thoughts influence our choices and can bring us riches or a soggy cardboard box in a back alley.

You need confidence that you will attain something before you can actually attain it.

Nothing can hold you back unless you let it.

Nothing is impossible.

The third step is to feed your subconscious with positive thoughts about your goal so often that it becomes a truth to you. Then your mind will automatically welcome thoughts and actions that bring you closer to your goal.

Repeat your goals with feeling and visualize yourself actually having it in your mind, or you're doing nothing better than memorizing song lyrics.

When someone tells you something is impossible, disagree with them and keep trying... because they are WRONG. No doesn't always mean no.

Do the impossible and prove that just because you have an idea that others think is wrong and cannot be done doesn't mean that it's impossible. It's just an idea that they aren't used to yet. They can't wrap their minds around it and they can't do it themselves, so they say you can't do it either because you'd end up blowing their mind.

Push negative thoughts out of your mind and replace them with good ones.

Failures are only stepping stones to your success... they are not true failures, but they are lessons which teach you how to do things the best way to achieve what you want. So in a sense you can never fail unless you give up because a failure is a lesson and when you continue to learn more and more, then your goal will be reached eventually.

Seek expert advice when you hit a stall point.

The fourth step is to build up knowledge, through your experiences, that actually helps you reach your goal, and not clutter it with a bunch of general knowledge that doesn't matter. But also you should use this knowledge to create plans of action... and you don't need to know it all, you can have mastermind groups full of minds that specialize in certain areas, and their knowledge can help push you along too. But you do need to acquire knowledge in your field in order to turn your thoughts into actions the right way.

There are plenty of free books and classes you can take to gain knowledge but you all know how we value free things.

It's free... who cares? And if someone is going to give you something for free then how can it be valuable information, right? Well, that's why when you gain this specialized knowledge it is better that you pay to learn the knowledge... gasp, pay for something?!

I'm out of here!

Haha, are you still here?

Well, yes... you must pay for many reasons. You'll see the knowledge as valuable, you'll go through and learn it all to get your money's worth and you will put that knowledge into play to be sure that it's worth what you paid for it. If you got the same knowledge for free you probably wouldn't get as far.

Never stop learning, but always learn specialized knowledge from reputable sources. That doesn't mean you have to get a master's degree; you'd actually be better off picking a few specialized classes here and there so that you're not bombarded with general classes that you don't need. You could even be mentored by gurus online, as long as they're in it to help you and not try to sell you some magical book on a method that only worked for a few months, last year. That's why knowledge, like the information in Think and Grow Rich, is so important, because it was published in 1937 and the information still holds true.

And if you need help accumulating your wealth then get help from others who specialize in areas you're not interested in or aren't that knowledgeable about. Don't give up because you see a roadblock; call on the guy with the pick up truck with the plow on it, and knock the roadblock to the side.

And when you want to rise up in a certain field then start studying others in that field. Learn their story; learn what they actually do and who does what for them. Talk to them and get advice on your plan of action if you can and if not then just observe their actions.

Never settle for something less than what you want, because guess what?

YOU DON'T HAVE TO!

Do whatever it takes to get there.

The fifth step is to use your imagination and be creative when choosing your path, how you plan to reach your goal and what knowledge you'll need. Sometimes you will actually create a whole new profession.

You must use your imagination and, as you do more and more, ideas will come flowing to you and your plan will plan itself. Old ideas will be combined into new ideas and you will eventually create completely new ideas to add into your plans.

Your written plan is the start of the physical manifestation of your desire. It can now be seen through your plan, which you have on paper.

Thoughts are energy and energy is required in order to turn your desire into something physical.

An idea in the right mind can be of great future value.

Your ideas are priceless and will be easier to "sell" to others than any product would be.

Study your losses and learn from your mistakes.

The sixth step is that you must have a plan of action that you will carry out.

You need to group yourself with people who will help you reach your goal; don't do it alone. You can have your own plans, but run it by the group because they'll pick up on flaws you won't.

If you're not progressing toward your goal, then something is wrong with your plan.

If you want to reap riches then you most sow, but sow often with high quality and in harmony with those you work with. Working in harmony and being an agreeable person is much more important than the other two factors.

And always remember that the public is your employer, so make sure that all the work you do is making them happy, not just making you rich. If you please the public it will be easy for you to rise to the top.

It doesn't matter what you know... what matters is what you do with what you know, and if you get what you want without violating the rights of others.

Make your move.

The seventh step is to stop putting things off and start making some decisions. Decide quickly and change your mind slowly, if at all. Don't take forever to make your move and then change your mind the second you try it.

YOU make the decisions because you know what your ultimate desire is... don't let others' opinions modify what you choose to do. Make up your own mind and only seek council from people in your mastermind group, who are just as focused on your main desire as you are.

Gather information from others if you need it but not opinions... you don't even have to tell them what you plan on doing. And don't let family or friends try to sway you and bring you down, as they poke fun of your goals.

If you are in the company of intelligent people and you decide to open your mouth, remember that they will soon know how much or how little you truly know about what you're talking about.

Listen more than you talk so that you can gain knowledge and don't give away what you're doing, otherwise others will try to bring you down.

Everyone is trying to make money and if you tell them your plans, and they are great plans, which you haven't completed yet, then guess what? They're going to try to do it themselves!

The world will find out what you are doing once you've done it... don't let someone else beat you to it because they took your ideas and acted on them first.

Never give up!

The eighth step you need to take is to never give up and persistently move toward your goal, no matter what.

Make it a habit to always be thinking of ways you can reach your goal.

Don't be afraid of what people will think of your plans, just put them into play.

You know you want to reach that goal and you're doing it because you desire to, so don't be afraid of criticism.

Don't be afraid to aim high with your goals; you can achieve anything!

Don't take the easy way out and accept something lower than your goal... in fact, mold your life so that you can't do anything but succeed... you want no where else to go but toward your goal!

Travel toward your goal and burn the bridges behind you so that you can't back down, turn around or retreat. Your goal is in front of you, not behind you, and the only thing keeping you from reaching it is YOU. If you stand still you can't move forward, so it's time for you to start taking steps.

Success can be one step past a failure.

Tap into an unlimited source of knowledge.

You need to harness the power of a mastermind group in order to take the ninth step toward your goal. To be powerful all you have to do is organize your knowledge and be smart about how you use it to direct you toward your goal, through definite plans.

But you can't know it all... In fact, you can't even know all you need to know in order to see the success of reaching your goal. So you have to call on other minds, to tap into their knowledge and to have them carry out some of the tasks you create in your planning... that is why you can't go it alone, and why you need a mastermind group.

You must choose people that have the same desire as you do and that you can work easily with so that all of you can combine your minds into one mastermind that is sure to succeed.

What's another word for power?

Perhaps it's energy?

And we're made of energy; we are energy turned into matter and our thoughts are energy... so, if you combine a bunch of minds that are full of energy, then you're going to have a powerful charge toward your goal! And everyone in the mastermind group will be able to tap into this powerful mass of coordinated thoughts.

It takes no planning to be poor... it just happens... but to be rich, you need a plan and you need to act on that plan.

Harness the power of love.

The tenth step is to take the emotion and desire for sex and turn it into creative action. It's one of our strongest emotions and it gets us to act and map out some of the weirdest, but yet effective, ways to achieve physical pleasure and that's completely natural!

But we should save some of this emotion, bottle it up and use it in our thought process to help make us act on our plans and reach for our goals. You can see people doing this every time they allow a lover to influence their decisions and bring them closer to a goal. Love, music, suffering, and fear also get us to come up with creative ideas to get what we want but they are not as strong as sexual desire.

You must tap into your creative imagination; dissolve all obstacles from your mind and think of some of the most creative ways to reach your goals, and be open to others' ideas... ignore your limitations!

Your conscience is an internal guide that operates inside your creative imagination. Some people tap into their creative imagination by closing their eyes so that they can only come up with ideas that come from inside them.

Others shut themselves in sound proof rooms, with the lights off, and think about what they know about a certain issue until ideas flash in their mind that are unknown to others. New ideas that need to be jotted down as soon as possible... so they flip the switch... a light bulb turns on and they jot down their idea.

Does that mental picture of a light bulb turning on when someone has an idea ring a bell to anyone?

When everything you know isn't working and isn't helping you reach your goal then you have to come up with creative, new ways that no one has ever thought of before to reach your goal. This will help you visualize your goal as a whole... seeing both what you already know will work and what's already put into play and also the unknown variables that help seal the deal toward reaching your goal.

Sex stimulates our minds so that we can tap into this creative imagination... there's a bond that is built between two LOVERS a deep connection, a romance and they push each other toward their goals and support each other no matter what. Do you see that word in all caps?

You're not going to be able to tap into your creative imagination by sleeping around... find "the one"; someone you can build this connection with through love and you will have TWO of the greatest stimulants that spark your creative imagination.

When you desire to please someone, in a non sexual way, who you are sexually attracted to, you might do a lot of things that aren't very organized and they could cause some problems. But when you desire to please someone you love, in the same way as above, then your actions are guided by reason and you will attain things through your creative imagination.

But don't mistake this as me telling you to have a lot of sex... what I'm talking about is taking that desire for sex, for physical contact, and using it to desire other things. But that doesn't mean to completely abstain it just means that when there are those times when you cannot connect with your lover in these ways, but you still have that desire, then turn your mind to your goal, harness that sexual desire and use it to tap into your creative mind and become productive. When you cannot physically achieve what you desire (sex), then mentally achieve your life long goal by harnessing one of the strongest urges known to man.

So it's not about abstinence, it's about controlling your urges and using that energy in other ways. The most sexual people have a magnetism that draws people and opportunities to them... they are enthusiastic.

And it's sad to say that most people won't be able to make this mental shift until they are in the age range of 40 to 60, because they can't take their eyes off the physical.

So take your mind off sex for a moment, and use all the energy that you would put into achieving that physical goal to spark your mind and create new ideas.

How many of you know of great pieces of art that were created through the love for someone else? That is a great example of using this sexual energy, mixed with love, and letting it fuel your creative engine until you have created a physical manifestation of what you have long desired. I've done it myself; I drew a picture of someone I loved at the time and to this day it's one of the best pieces of art I've ever created.

So find a lover that is perfectly suited for you. Let them influence you and strive to be appealing in their eyes and you will climb toward your goal, and never lose the interest of the one you love.

Control your thoughts.

You must use and master your subconscious mind to help pull you toward your goal every day, and that is step eleven. All your thoughts and desires are stored in your subconscious mind. And if there is one ruling desire that keeps being pushed into your subconscious then you will always be drawn to things, without even thinking about it, which will help you achieve that goal.

This is why you practice auto-suggestion and repeat what you want, daily. But you don't get access to your mental filing cabinet unless you believe you can achieve it, and visualize already having it. When you do that, THEN the cabinet will open and you can store that thought in your subconscious, and it will guide you to your goal.

Your subconscious feeds on your thoughts, and anything brought in through your five senses, all the time... you can't stop it! So if you don't have a burning desire to feed it daily and if you don't have positive thoughts to feed it, then it will feed on negative thoughts and the things you don't want will be drawn to you through your subconscious. And you can't do anything about it.... except replace the bad thoughts with good thoughts, and outline your burning desire on what you want to achieve!

Nothing is created without first being a simple thought. A thought then is passed through your imagination, as you come up with creative ways to make it. And when you have faith that you can achieve your goal, in the end you end up with your creation. If you have no faith that it will work, then you'll easily give up and you'll assume you're right... because it didn't work right the first time.

Tune in to the right frequency.

Using your brain as your broadcasting and receiving station is the 12th step. Your subconscious will transmit out what you want from life and pull it toward you, and your creative imagination will absorb what comes to you in the form of ideas and opportunities.

When you sit in a room with your mastermind, state a problem you want to solve and then you all can start to speak your mind as thoughts come to you. You are all going to be playing off each others thoughts, and new ideas will be sparked that you wouldn't be able to come up with on your own.

You're all on the same track hoping to solve the same problem and you believe you will because your mastermind has never failed you. So ALL of your subconscious minds are looking for the same thing and, as you each let out your thoughts, everyone else is absorbing those ideas, and more ideas are sparked as you ponder their ideas. Parts of the idea will be dropped and you'll add in your own, as you mention it to the group, and the cycle will continue until you've come up with the solution as a product of the mastermind.

No one mind in the room is to thank because your brains acted as the broadcasting and receiving stations, and you were all tuned into the same frequency.

Master your sixth sense.

Mastering your sixth sense will seal the deal and will be the thirteenth step towards success. Yes, your sixth sense, which is also known as your creative imagination or that part of your mind where ideas just come to you out of nowhere, and you feel inspired.

Before you're tempted to stop reading, think about it for a second... have you ever gotten an idea that just keeps building and building in your mind and you just have to jot it down, and before you know it you have this huge plan for some amazing idea and you don't know how all the pieces came together so easily?

It could be a project you want to do for your business or it could be a poem you were writing, but I feel we all have tapped into the "sixth sense" at some point and the inspiration just flows out of us without any effort on our part. Our job is just to get it written down before we forget the details of this mysterious idea or thought.

This sense can also give you those hunches where you just know an idea is going to be fatal to your success. Or it might even make you feel the exact opposite; you might feel that THIS is the idea that is going to bring you success.

Imagining scenarios to help you solve problems will help you use and develop your creative imagination. It may seem odd at first but if you want to really develop this part of your mind, and have ideas come to you with no real effort on your part, then it's worth trying. Play out whole scenarios in your mind and have masterminds with those you admire... it doesn't matter what you want to imagine; your goal is to improve your creative process. You might play out a whole scenario, see all the sides of the story and how others might take it and avoid some disaster in your life, all because you thought about it wholly before you acted.

Take some time each night, close your eyes and imagine you sitting at a table with people you really admire; successful people that have done things that you hope to achieve.

What is it about each of them that you admire?

How did they get to where they are?

How can you modify your own characteristics and habits and model them after the best characteristics of each of these successful people?

How can you improve your lifestyle?

Don't envy them, don't hate them and don't assume it was handed to them on a silver platter... look at what they did to become the person you admire. And if you work on your own character as hard as they did then maybe someday someone will be imagining YOU, and will be wondering how they can model their life after your trail of success.

The Final Step...

And you know, while some of us have experienced this "sense", a lot of you who are reading this will want to brush it off because come on... a sixth sense? Am I serious?

Well, have you mastered the other steps yet?

Have you put these principles into practice?

If you haven't, and I assume almost all who are reading this have not, then go through all the steps, put a lot of effort into it and soon you may well believe in the notion of a sixth sense.

There is a lot about life, energy and our minds that we haven't figured out yet, but if you master these steps you will have figured out more than any naysayer ever will.

And perhaps it's good that the final step comes off as absurd to most, because those who are not willing to try new things with an open mind, when they are handed to them from successful individuals of old, will only ever obtain the same results that they are getting today.

If you're just looking for a reason to say that none of this works and that it's all a bunch of B.S. then here's your chance to say, "I knew it!" and turn your back on one of the best methods for success out there.

Those who brush things off without trying them will never see success.

But there still is one more step for you to take to truly make this method work for you. You see, I've just been pre-framing your mind and explaining things in a way that I know you will understand. And it's sparked a little interest, hasn't it?

But this is only what I got out of reading the book, and is only what I felt like writing down... this is hardly going to paint the picture in your mind that this book was intended to create. It's a book full of stories, knowledge and exercises that you must do in order to see success, and above all... riches.

What I have just told you is a great summary, in my mind, but you must read it yourself because what you get out of it, and where it takes you, will be much different than my thoughts and my path.

At this point you should realize that the title did not mean that you needed to read this article to become rich... but that this article's purpose is to lead you to what you truly need to read, and that is Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.

If this is what I got out of reading this book, imagine what you'll get out of it.

So what are you afraid of?

Make up your mind and push your doubts aside; it's time to think and grow rich.
